Pacific Gray Whales (Fly-In)

San Ignacio Lagoon is a whale watcher’s paradise, as the Pacific gray whales make their annual migration south from the Arctic to these protected waters to mate and calve. The lagoon forms part of the Vizcaino Reserve, the largest Natural Protected Area in Latin America. Our programming supports local research efforts to learn about and protect gray whales and their habitat. It’s no wonder our trip is touted in “1,000 Places to See before You Die.” The trip rating is easy and is perfect for families.

This five-night eco-adventure includes three days of expeditions into the lagoon to observe and interact with the gray whales as they spy hop, breach and nurture their young; opportunities for nature walks; and kayaking and bird watching in the mangrove estuaries. Our naturalists and guides will help you get the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime experience and learn more about the importance of our planet's large mammals like the gray whales.
