Sea & Sierra: 2 Back-to-Back Day Trips

In just two days, discover both of Baja California's distinct magical worlds - the Sea and the Sierra!  Just 18 miles from La Paz, the 23,383-acre island of Espiritu Santo is the crown jewel in the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Cortez. Espiritu Santo has the most intact ecosystem in the region — and several of its plants and animals are found nowhere else in the world! Our Espiritu Santo eco camp is nestled in a spectacular cove of this island Natural Protected Area, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During your day of island exploration you can swim with friendly California sea lions at the rookery, then choose your adventure at our Eco Camp — snorkeling, paddling a kayak or paddleboard, or hiking up the arroyo. You will also enjoy delicious catered snacks prepared with fresh local ingredients. Baja Expeditions' founder Tim Means, together with a supportive community, played an instrumental role in the designation of the island archipelago as a protected area, supporting the health of its ecosystems and creating opportunities for responsible access and visitation for future generations of locals and visitors. A portion of the proceeds from your expedition goes to support local environmental education and conservation research programming.

You will overnight back in La Paz on your own, and then head for the hills!  In the Sierra, you will learn about ranch life at Rancho Cacachilas, experiencing firsthand the aim to preserve the heritage and integrity of the land and its peoples while creating low-impact development and economic vitality. Enjoy our fresh garden produce and homemade cheeses,
