Espiritu Santo Island PRIVATE Day Trip

Just 18 miles from La Paz, the 23,383-acre island of Espiritu Santo is the crown jewel in the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Cortez. Espiritu Santo has the most intact ecosystem in the region — and several of its plants and animals are found nowhere else in the world! Our Espiritu Santo Eco Camp is nestled in a spectacular cove of this island Natural Protected Area, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You will stop for a visit as part of your day of island exploration. Swim with friendly California sea lions at the rookery, then choose your adventure at our Eco Camp: snorkeling, paddling a kayak or paddleboard or hiking up the arroyo. Be as active or relaxed as you like at our island base camp. Rest and enjoy the views, or hike up the ochre-colored arroyo to study cacti and desert plants — but go quietly if you want to spot lizards! Bird watchers will delight in the fishing practices of pelicans and magnificent frigate birds. You will also enjoy delicious catered snacks prepared with fresh local ingredients.

Baja Expeditions' founder Tim Means, together with a supportive community, played an instrumental role in the designation of the island archipelago as a protected area, supporting the health of its ecosystems and creating opportunities for responsible access and visitation for future generations of locals and visitors.
